Amy Johnson (All year round)
To help celebrate the opening of the house by Amy in 1936, new items have been added to the permanent exhibition of exciting Amy Johnson memorabilia. There are two dedicated rooms, one displaying the collection and the other showing a short film about her record breaking flight to Australia.

Lark Rise is an exhibition of a recent set of new interpretative illustrations to the now classic work of English rural life Lark Rise to Candleford by wood engraver artist Sue Scullard together with a series of contemporary photographs (c1880-1910), newly printed from the originals. Additional material pertaining to the landed estate here at Sewerby explores rural life closer to home.
The Making of Christmas

The idea of Christmas evokes scenes of jolly old Santa and perfectly wrapped presents; a cosy room with a log fire burning brightly; a scented fir tree laden with baubles and twinkling lights; Christmas dinner; crackers; Christmas cards from all your friends; a kiss under the mistletoe and so on, yet have you ever considered who put all these ideas together?The Making of Christmas exhibition explores how the Victorians adopted some ancient customs and grafted on some of their own to create our idea of the perfect Christmas.
