A great day out

The event promises to bring plenty of entertainment for the whole family. In the main field you will find:

  • Demo Ring
  • Chill out zone
  • Agility area
  • Competition marquee

Other activities include:

  • Competitions to enter
  • Talks to listen to
  • Demonstrations to watch, including demonstrations from Bishop Burton College
  • Chill out zone to chill
  • Have a go dog agility, scent work and ball pools.
  • Dog ‘catwalk’ - come along to watch or even enter your dog in the fashion show brought to you by Oh My Dog of Beverley - they could be in with a chance of winning an outfit!
  • First aid and advice from Aldgate Veterinary Practice
  • Face painting - have your face painted to look like your dog!
  • Dog selfies - with such a stunning location every dog will want a selfie!
  • Announcements by Bridlington Gold Radio
  • Trail walks - follow the trail of The Lloyd Greame’s Dogs on the video below.

While visiting Sewerby Hall and Gardens you will also be able to enjoy the House, Gardens and Zoo, and take time out with a bite to eat and drink.

Day pass and category entry

Entry for dogs is free! Standard admission charges apply for humans which includes access to the House, Gardens and Zoo. Buy your day pass for Sunday, 15 September in advance online and save.

Dog show entry payable at the event. Proceeds to Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

Only assistance dogs are permitted in the Zoo and House.

Our charity partner

The Canine Carnival will be hosted in partnership with Jerry Green Dog Rescue, who for over 60 years have rescued, cared for and rehomed over 44,000 dogs in need of a second chance. With a community outreach programme in East Yorkshire, as well as three centres across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire they continue to provide a safe place for homeless dogs and to seek new loving places for them to live.

How much is it to come to the Canine Carnival?

Standard admission charges apply for entry into Sewerby Hall and Gardens. View the prices and passes page.

Is it free to park at the event?

Yes, parking at Sewerby Hall and Gardens is free for visitors.

Additional parking is available at the Pay and Display car park on Sewerby Road between the Methodist Church and Bondville Model Village. Discounted paid admission to Sewerby Hall and Gardens is available with a valid parking ticket. What time can I arrive from?

Admission will be from 9.15am please pay at the gate or have your pre purchased online tickets ready to show.

Do you take credit cards at the event?

Cash and card payments available, however please be prepared with cash just in case. Some stall holders may only accept cash. Jerry Green donation buckets will be cash only as will face painting donations (£4).

How much will it be to enter the dog shows?

Entry to each category will be £3, with all proceeds going towards raising funds for Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

Are dogs allowed in the house and zoo?

Dogs are not permitted. (Except assistance dogs.)

Can dogs go into the cafe?

Dogs are not permitted around the counter. There is a small area in the cafe for well-behaved dogs. We will also be having outside catering at the event.

Are mobility scooters, prams or pushchairs permitted in the house?

No; due to conservation issues, motorised wheelchairs, buggies, or scooters are not permitted in the house. We have a selection of non-motorised wheelchairs available for visitors who need to transfer from a motorised wheelchair to access the house.

In order to preserve our historical items, pushchairs and prams are not permitted in the house or Orangery. Spaces for these items can be found at the rear door of the house and there are locks available; please ring the bell at the back door and a staff member will attend. We have HippyChick Hipseats available for visitors.

What is open during the event?

Everything! The walled gardens, gardens, house, zoo and play area, will all be open during the event and is included in the admission price.

What time does the house close and zoo close?

The house and zoo close at 4.30pm, with last admission 4pm.

What should we wear to the event?

The event is predominantly outside, so we recommend dressing up accordingly and checking the weather forecast before your visit.

What happens if there are extreme weather conditions at the event?

Weather conditions are totally out of our control, and we will aim to notify our customers as soon as possible should the event be cancelled. If in doubt, please contact us directly at Sewerby Hall and Gardens on (01262) 673769 to check the event status before setting off.

Canine Carnival 2023!

This hugely popular event was run in partnership and in aid of Jerry Green Dog Rescue and helped them raise over £1300 of vital funds to help them, care for, and rehome dogs in need of a second chance. We look forward to hosting it again in 2024.
