Exhibition: The Snowman: International Icon of Winter

Now a recognizable symbol of winter family fun, the snowman is asexual, apolitical, non-partisan, non-sectarian and unproblematised. But a brief trawl through history reveals the snowman’s rather chequered, if not colourful past. Co-opted to make political statements in varying degrees of decency, do rude things to make a point, coerced to put his name (and image) to sell everything from toothpaste, beer and laxatives, the snowman has been there and done that.

The exhibition is an exploration of the snowman’s flirtation with the media and his indecorous past and runs until 28th December, on weekends only and during the Winter Woodland event.
