When is Fairytales at Christmas taking place?

The event runs every weekend from Saturday 21 November 2026 until Sunday 3 January 2027 (closed Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 December), plus Monday 21, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 December

What times is the event open?

The Hall will be open during normal visitor opening hours on event days, 11.30am- 3.30pm (last admission 2.30pm). To help manage visitor flow, there will be two admission sessions each day, arrival between 11.30am-1pm and arrival between 1pm-2.30pm. You can arrive at any time during your chosen session.

Do I need to book?

Advance booking is recommended to guarantee entry, particularly on the busiest dates. Annual Pass holders are also required to pre-book their visit.

Is the event included with my Annual Pass?

Yes. Admission to Fairytales at Christmas is included with a valid Sewerby Hall and Gardens Annual Pass, however pre-booking and membership evidence is required when you arrive.

Is the event included with Historic Houses (HHA) membership?

Yes. Visitors using a valid Historic Houses membership card can attend during the event, however prebooking and membership evidence is required when you arrive.

Is the event included with Arts Fund or Great Houses, Castles and Gardens passes?

No. Arts Fund and Great Houses, Castles and Gardens passes are not valid for admission to Fairytales at Christmas. Standard admission charges will apply.

Can I change my booking?

Bookings can be transferred to an alternative day / time subject to availability and a £5 administration fee per booking. Tickets are not refundable. To amend your booking, please contact the Welcome Centre on (01262) 673769 open daily between 10am-4pm.

Is the event accessible?

Sewerby Hall and Gardens welcomes visitors of all abilities. The Hall has an accessible entrance via the courtyard and accessible toilet facilities are available on site. Some areas of the historic building may have restrictions due to the nature of the property. Due to conservation issues motorised wheelchairs, buggies or scooters are not permitted in the house or the first floor of the Old Laundry Block. We have a small amount of hand-pushed and self-propelled wheelchairs for use inside, and these are available on a first come, first served basis.

Can I bring a pram or pushchair into the Hall?

Due to the historic nature of the building and conservation requirements, prams and pushchairs are not permitted inside the Hall.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are welcome in the grounds of Sewerby Hall and Gardens but are not permitted inside the Hall or Zoo, with the exception of assistance dogs.

How long does the experience take?

There are no time limits however we suggest you allow 60 minutes to explore the festive displays within the Hall, although you are welcome to enjoy the rest of the estate throughout your visit.

Absolutely. Fairytales at Christmas has been designed with families in mind and is suitable for visitors of all ages.
